Burgess Owens serves Utah’s Fourth Congressional District and is a member of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s in biology and chemistry and spent 10 years in the NFL playing for the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders, winning the Superbowl with the 1980 Raiders’ team.
After retiring from the NFL, Burgess worked in the corporate sales world and eventually moved the Owens family to beautiful Utah. Before being elected to Congress, he started Second Chance 4 Youth, a non-profit dedicated to helping troubled and incarcerated youth.
Carlos M. Braceras was appointed executive director of the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) by Governor Gary Herbert on May 6, 2013. He was reappointed to serve as executive Director by Governor Spencer Cox in January 2021. In this capacity, he is responsible for UDOT’s more than 1,600 employees and the design, construction, and maintenance of Utah’s 6,000-mile system of roads and
Braceras received an undergraduate degree in Geology from the University of Vermont and an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. He is a registered professional engineer.
